Another two more years of this inane drivel clogging up TV schedules. :-(
(I don't think it actually plays in New Zealand, thankfully!)
One of CBS' Most Popular TV Shows Ever
Just Got Renewed for 2 More Seasons
--------------------------------------
One of the biggest shows on CBS is back for two more years,
bringing back one of the most popular shows on the network
for more seasons.
Following the conclusion of its 28th season, the hit CBS
reality series Big Brother confirmed the news that two more
seasons would be coming. In grand fashion, the news was
announced live on the air, with host Julie Chen Moonves
announcing the news to loud applause.
The show has been a hit for CBS for some time now, and
doesn't look to be slowing down any time soon. The reality
series has aired over 1,000 original episodes, and
continues to be a massively popular show across both the
actual ratings and social media interactions. No word on
when Season 29 will begin has been announced as of yet.
When did Big Brother originally premiere on CBS?
Big Brother originally debuted in 2000 on CBS, and was
based on the Dutch show of the same name, created by
producer John de Mol Jr. and Ron Diesel in 1997. The
series' premise is well-known by now: a group of
contestants, known as "HouseGuests," all live together in a
house that is isolated from the world and watched by
cameras.
The members of the home compete for a cash prize by teaming
up, competing in games, and voting to get one another
removed. All told, Big Brother has aired 1,016 episodes
across its time on the air. The latest season, Season 28,
featured a prize pool of $750,000 for the grand prize
winner, with the runner-up and favorite HouseGuest (as
voted on by the audience) each receiving money as well.
