The article keeps saying it is "season 2", but in reality it seems to
be a spin-off / follow-on series that is keeping the same name. Also,
the original 'limted-series' was based on a book, whereas this new
'season' wil be stuff they've made up themselves.

Apple TV Renews Popular Show for Season 2,
Plot Update Reveals New Main Character
------------------------------------------
Apple TV brings back one of its global hits. The streamer has
teased the plot and the arrival of new characters in the second
season.

Apple TV has renewed Imperfect Women for Season 2. Originally a
limited release, the show will now be an ongoing series. The
upcoming installment will serve as a spin-off, centering on
only one character from the original trio.

Kerry Washington will reprise her role as Eleanor. According to
the official synopsis, the character "returns to her hometown
roots in the affluent black enclave of Martha's Vineyard, only
to find that beneath its idyllic surface, lie secrets and
scandals that threaten to upend everything she thought she knew
about her past."

While Season 1 was based on Araminta Hall's 2020 novel of the
same name, Season 2 will feature an original story. With only
Washington's Eleanor returning from the debut season, the
upcoming installment will introduce new main characters.

What was the first season of Apple TV's Imperfect Women about?
Imperfect Women Season 1 followed three friends: Eleanor, Nancy,
and Mary, whose lives get thrown into chaos after Nancy's murder.
Their decades-long friendship threatens to crumble as the
investigation unravels shocking secrets and betrayals.

Besides Washington, the debut season featured Elisabeth Moss,
Kate Mara, Joel Kinnaman, Corey Stoll, Leslie Odom Jr., and more.
Washington and Moss will also serve as executive producers in
Season 2.

Discussing her return in the second season in a recent statement,
Washington said, "We were thrilled to see how deeply these women
and their stories resonated with audiences around the world, and
I'm so excited to step back into Eleanor's shoes."

The Emmy-winning actress added, "She's intelligent and strong,
but she also finds herself navigating complicated and sometimes
messy situations. We at Simpson Street, along with our incredible
partners at Apple and Love & Squalor Pictures, can't wait to
explore a fresh chapter for her and share where this story takes
us next."

Apple TV has yet to announce a release window for Imperfect Women
Season 2.
