• Moving absurdly heavy electrical grid parts on railroad

    From Adam H. Kerman@3:633/10 to All on Sat Oct 10 16:12:08 2026
The largest components of the power grid are absurdly heavy objects,
factory sealed, that cannot be assembled on site. They ecxeed the
ordinary cargo weight a railroad is desgned to move easily and cannt be
moved on highway nor as air cargo. Planning for these moves takes about
the same amount of time to build.

When Person of Interesr predicted data centers, the tv show made no
    comment on increased power demand.

    (1) Have I mentioned how much I hate these AI narrated videos?

    (2) All the problems it listed with trucking these components would still
apply with rail because the rail only gets you in the general area of your destination. You're still going to need to truck it from the rail yard to
the substation or nuclear plant where it will be installed.
