Whoa...pricey!
Fresh-baked croissants were 2/5$ at Sprouts today.
Those croissant looking things at Sprout's are not croissants,
No, really they are.
However...
AI Overview
"Sprouts bakes their croissants in-store
using pre-made, prepared dough rather than laminating and rolling the
dough from scratch.
In-Store Baking ProcessDelivery: The frozen,
pre-shaped or ready-to-proof croissant dough is shipped directly to individual Sprouts Farmers Market locations.
Thawing and Proofing:
Bakery staff thaw, shape, and let the unbaked dough rise (proof) so it develops its airy structure.Baking: The croissants go into the in-store
ovens daily to yield fresh, warm pastries for the bakery shelves."
In other words, commercial junk.>
Now before you go off on the dough being frozen, Dunkin is doing the
same with their donuts now.

Still a donut - just not anywhere as fresh as Krispy Kreme.

I do have a fondness for Krispy Kreme glazed, even though it's been a
dozen or more years since I've had any donut. I can hardly imagine ever
buying any other type of donut.>
just like the bagel looking things you can buy at grocery stores don't
qualify as bagels.
My first GF was ethnically Jewish, so I learned about real bagels. There
was also this brand of Kosher salami called Wilno. They were divine.
Then, Sara Lee corporation bought the company and killed off the brand.>
Generally true.
And over-true if you eat that awful McDs breakfast bagel sammich I tried...once...

Hockey ouck time.
The only breakfast thing I ever order at McD's is the sausage McMuffin,
and it's been at least a year or two. My standard for fast food
breakfast is not that high. My standard for baked goods is through the
roof. When I was still working, I got a lot of sausage muffins. I'd
order 2, and take the bottom buns off to have with strawberry preserves,
then I'd have a double sausage sandwich. Sometimes, I'd bring it home
and add an over easy egg to it.
