Some external programs (e.g. ai-wx weather) will immediately clear/overwrite the user's terminal and if such a program is invoked via logon event, that could make any unread/unacknowledged text on the screen disappear. Rather than depending on the program to check the Synchronet terminal line counter or use the JS console.clear() method of graceful screen clearing, having the exec_xtrn() do a graceful sbbs->cls() call (optionally) before invoking the external program would resolve the issue.
