I cannot get Winpoint to run without being root.

I think the way it looks and feels.

The arrow keys are all I need to navigate.

    Parts of it are frustrating

I cannot get Winpoint to run without being root.

    What happens?

Did you install WP already as root? In that case, it has been installed for the root user and you have to be the root user to use it ;)

I love that program for so many reasons.

    Nothing happens

I likely did install it as root because I could not get it to run any
    other way.

OK, how do I backpedal this one?

    delete everthing and start over?

I am using wine on linux.

Root is a pretty big deal..

    Cheers

Can you give us the full path, to which WP has been installed? Usually, Wine installs to the users home dir ...

    delete everthing and start over?

Install to your normal home and copy over the files and the registry settings. For the latter, you have to find out how to do that. Under real windows, you would be using regedit here.
