    If it's longer than the screen it's a total waste of time as everything flies by so fast you don't even get a chance to see it. Might have been fine at 24-4800 baud where you had time to actually see the art as it scrolled by.

    Exactly. It's one thing if the system will let you just hit the space bar to abort the ANSI display, but I've come across a few (Like the long SBBS Ad that comes with the software) that won't let me do that. I also find boards that have so much felgercarb you have to wade through before you even get to the main menu to be rather annoying.

    Yup. Drives me nuts to go thru oneliners, rumors, 10000 line ansi that won't abort with spacebar, msg check (which is turned OFF in settings, but still checks all echomail to you. If I wanted to read message as soon as I logged on, I would hit M and read messages.

    Thats why I have EVERYTHING turned off here. Right to the main menu you go. Do what you want, not what you are forced to load and press Q to quit to. There are some boards it takes almost 3 MINUTES to get to the main menu before I can do anything. Sigh.

    That's why I make mine totally optional and configurable. You can either
    skip all of what you might think is garbage, or just select what you want to see. My screens are dynamic for the most part. I've got from 8 scrollers
    that are picked at random, a random game ad, a random net ad, some other screens all that I think are useful. there's a screen with a lightbar right when you log in that you can pick quicklogin yes/no or configure the no.
