Last night, here in St. Louis, my other half and I went to see Phil Rosenthal give a talk - for those of you who don't know, he hosts the phenomenal program S. We had the pleasure of seeing him and meeting him ab out 3 years
omebody Feed Phil on Netflix and is also the creator/producer of Everybody Loves Raymond.
The guy is as nice in person as he appears on television. Just absolutely makes you feel like you are sitting across the table from him having a 1-to-1 conversation when he talks. He talked a lot about his travels, and how the show, while food plays a role, is really about the people and the connections.
He talked a lot about how the rest of the world really is an amazing, kind place filled with dynamic people. He encouraged everyone to travel, and travel widely while they can which really resonated with the audience.
He also talked at length about the people - and how the more people you meet, the more friendlier the world gets. Immigrants are what create a lot of places, and help make places grow.
We first discovered his show, Somebody Feed Phil, back in 2018 and have loved watching it ever since. It is what encouraged my husband and I to travel extensively and put aside material things for travel. We have never been happier. There is rarely a month goes by now where we aren't traveling at least 1-2 weeks. We are lucky to be able to do that, and as Phil himself said,
"We sure are some lucky bastards."
If you haven't watched the show, check it out on Netflix - it may give you that
hope and comfort feeling that so many of us need these days.
