I copied all of my license keys into a OneNote page, I can tell how

I have pretty much every single reg code for everything I ever bought

"I'll never use windows 3.1 again..."

And, WHY did I keep Microsoft Vista license keys?

I have my Vista and Windows 8 keys saved. LOL

I went to a company meeting at the Microsoft HQ in Mountain View CA -
they were pitching Windows 8 for call centers. I liked the idea of the
Charm UI for call center agents.

We got passes to the MS campus store, were like kids in a candy store.
I bought a Windows 8 pro license for $15, used that serial number for
Windows 8 and later 10 - I may still be using it!

Somewhat OT but not too long ago I bought an SBC that came with Win10 preinstalled. I was not planning to use Windows so I didn't try activating
it but I did wonder... it came preinstalled but, unlike the old days where there was a license number sticker on a book or the side of the side of the case, there didn't appear to be one anywhere in the documentation I
    received with it.

Made me wonder what would have happened if I had tried to activate it, or if for some reason I ever need the serial number for some other reason.

I know the windows install on my desktop is using the Windows 8 code
that I got for free from MS for something, and it has just kept upgrading
to 10 and now 11 for no charge.

A lot of them have a partition with the license info on there, so if
you re-install, it automatically pulls up the correct license key.

Several jobs ago, we bought PCs that were pre-installed with Windows 7.
We'd reimage them with our image, meaning the OEM licenses were
uninstalled. I used those on other systems as needed, as we had
hundreds of OEM license stickers on campus.
