Somewhat OT but not too long ago I bought an SBC that came with Win10 preinstalled. I was not planning to use Windows so I didn't try activating it but I did wonder... it came preinstalled but, unlike the
old days where there was a license number sticker on a book or the side
of the side of the case, there didn't appear to be one anywhere in the documentation I received with it.
Made me wonder what would have happened if I had tried to activate it,
or if for some reason I ever need the serial number for some other
reason.
A lot of them have a partition with the license info on there, so if
you re-install, it automatically pulls up the correct license key.
Several jobs ago, we bought PCs that were pre-installed with Windows 7.
We'd reimage them with our image, meaning the OEM licenses were
uninstalled. I used those on other systems as needed, as we had
hundreds of OEM license stickers on campus.
