Nice! I always liked 286s. Mine unfortunately kicked the bucket about a decade ago and I've never been able to get it going again (random bodge wire on the bottom of the motherboard popped off and no idea where it went.) I still have it though in hopes that someday I'll get it working.

What spooky things are you up to? Halloween related things with it just around the corner?

I started my IT career out running OS/2 1.3 on a 386 with 8 mb of RAM.
Amazing what you could do with it compared to other OSes of the time. I
could connect to a BBS, share files over a LAN and connect to an AS/400
simultaneously. And, run Word and Excel for OS/2.

Windows 3.1 could barely do one of those things at the same time.

I was bored at work in the '90s and looking for entertainment. I dug up
an old 286 with 4 mb of RAM from a storage room and put MINIX on it.

MINIX is a teaching OS, it's about as stripped down a *nix as you could
get. Easy to get your head around, and came with full sources.

I created a web site on it, used it as a caching DNS server and used it
as a mail host for my email - I'd use fetchmail to pull mail down to
it, get the mail off the server and read it locally. Opened it up to a
couple of friends in the company, which sent the UNIX admin into a fit.

    Good times.

haha, That's great! I remember using Minix back in college. It was some sort of OS related programming course I took. I also had a copy running locally on one of my computers back home acting as a web server for a very short time. After the course ended, I swapped debian on it.

I've gave it a good try back when it broke. I know where one half goes but not the other. There's no real evidence of where it could have popped off. To make matters worse, there's almost no info online about it. It's a Pulstar Turbo 16. If anyone has any leads to any info related, I'd be happy to check it out. I'd love to get it working again. I've owned it since the mid 90s.

Minix is apparently the basis for the Intel pre-boot environment on
    modern PCs.

Now, I'm tempted to resurrect my MINIX server. It's horridly insecure,
though. I'd not want to put it on the net anywhere...

From what I've read, it's a matter of bad SVGA drivers. Some 3rd party drivers should solve that, though I've never tried. I kind of like the low-res graphics for the nostalgia.
