• Checkking in & TQW?

From Nodoka Hanamura@21:1/101 to All on Sat Oct 3 15:28:13 2026
Hey all, been a hot bit since I checked in on you guys. Good to see there's still familiar faces around.

I wanted to ask, since I tried to on my end, but for some reason I can't dial in to TQW over telnet or SSH.

Anyone know if it's still up or maybe my IP got blacklisted? I know since I started selfhosting a lot of stuff I've been getting more Captchas, but as far as I know that's likely from my old flaresolverr instance that I don't have anymore.

Also, anyone know if you can change your name on Mystic BBSes? In the intervening time I cheanged my pseudonym to Naluri Murai.

Same here. I start to get a response but then get instantly disconnected.

The tqw network is still up and running. I see the domain has gone so
whether that means hubs are not talking to each other, I dunno. I
dropped Bill a message via QWK so we'll see if he answers, I guess.

I still see erb.pw up and running. What domain are you referring to?
Wasn't sure if there was a DNS domain connected to tqwnet...

That's too bad. Araknet had one hub go down and each of the other hubs
sort of limped along for a while. I'd almost prefer a less resilient
network, that, when it went down, you knew it. :(

I tried the one I had in my address book, tqw.erb.pw - that didn't go anywhere and bbs.erb.pw just kicks me off as soon as I connect. Seems like I'm not the only one having issues.

I'm sort of feeling like that too. Though the problem with having a master hub that everything is routed through is you end up with a fractured network of little clusters. It's like the Sixth Sense. They are dead but they don't know they're dead :)

Some of the people in Fido zone 2 are preaching the FidoWeb, basically
having multiple feeds and letting message dupe detection sort things
out. That might work well for an othernet.

I see you're in Los Angeles. Lee Green is NC for net 102 in Region 10. I tried his BBS but it drop connection but if you go to https://bbs.techware2k.com there is a "Contact Us" link, so I would try there first.

Failing that, contact Kurt_Weiske RC for Region 10 at realitycheckbbs.org and I'm sure he'll point you in the right direction.

Is it any more difficult than looking at a nodelist and seeing who the
nearest NC is? Then contacting them, of course.

    Howdy,

Some of the people in Fido zone 2 are preaching the FidoWeb, basically having multiple feeds and letting message dupe detection sort things
out. That might work well for an othernet.

So here in FSX we are doing that at the hub level.

I send mail to hubs 1,2 & 5 directly, and receive mail from those hubs directly. (Not hub 4, since it lives next to hub 1).

It has its benefits, when 1 hub down it only take out that part of the network. However, when it's down unexpectantly it might not be so obvious immediately that its down...

Where are you looking? Wouldn't Poindexter/Kurt be your NC or RC (California)? I'm not sure which hat he wears, but he would be a great start for you to get a node number in the proper area. Otherwise, who you get your mail from doesn't matter.. so I imagine you're not looking very hard. ;)
