Hey there - Is anyone here interested in using their shortwave radio to download daily images from the International Space Station? It's not difficult to set up, but I haven't been successful with it yet. Here is a link from the European Space Agency web site where you can learn how to do it. I see this a lot with Mystic echomail messages - and I'm thinking there is an underlying bug not resolved with Mystic.

I actually think it's corrupted packets - which I havent confirmed that it's either the originating system, or the hub (in this case they are both Mystic).

The immediate visual that there is a problem, is that all the SEEN-BY lines are visiible, and there is no origin line.

What is clear tho, is if that packet had other messages after it, they are often lost :(

That's not good. Echomail message should have a tear and origin line of course but I haven't seen any issues when they are absent (they shouldn't be).

So, if I've followed this correctly, then:

* it either left the orginating system as a bad packet and hub 2 forwarded it on, or

* as hub 2 processed it, it became bad.

I've seen it a few times with a few messages here in there, and I cant see what could cause it - I think it'll need a packet captured on the source system or, a packet captured at a hub before it is processed to figure it out.

The only common thing I've seen is that its a Mystic BBS as the originator of the message (but havent checked what version in case it is a known bug).

I'm going to set up something on Hub 3 to see if I can catch it - but its also intermittent as far as Ive noticed.

I've seen that happen on Mystic BBS before but aside from Alonzo's message I haven't seen it in some time.

I didn't note what version Alonzo was using.

Messages just seemed to end mid thought/reply with no tear or origin line.

If this still happens with current versions maybe we should let g00r00 know about it so he can have a ponder and perhaps fix it if he can spot an issue.

it looks like it came from a NET 1 node to NET 1 (HPT) and then onwards to NET 2 where we can see the PATH shows 1/100 prior...

I don't as a rule capture all packets passing through the HUB as it could get jolly busy :) But if there's a recurring issue I can set something up for a period.
