• MultiRoom Chat Door

From Merlin@21:2/137 to All on Sun Mar 22 20:19:05 2026
I'm fairly new to Mystic, my BBS is sorta bare bones at the moment but I just installed ZCHAT, it's a multinode chat door with rooms.
I can telnet and enter it from my network, but I would like to see if someone outside of my network can enter it.

Why not just install MRC (Mystic Relay Chat)? It works almost identicle to IRC, and would give you not only multiple chat rooms, but would be able to communicate with users on other BBS' all around the globe.

I was unable to telnet to it on port 2323. I'll try again later today. I have not heard of zchat.

And StackFault has announced some future changes that should improve MRC as well as new features (games within mrc).

So should be fun times. And there is a weekly meetup on MRC on Saturdays that is pretty active, it will be Friday this week due to the host having other commitments on Saturday.

21:00 UK! (1pm Pacific/4pm Eastern) Saturday is normal time, but this week will be Friday at the same time.

I have MIRC, but when I use to run a multinode RA system years ago, callers liked chatting with callers on the system. That's why a played with and installed Zchat/

My bad, I forgot to forward the port to the right computer after moving it from my testing computer.

Seems it was another router issue. Try connecting just using standard port 23

    mIRC is totally different.

Also, the built-in Teleconfrence feature of Mystic allows for mutiple rooms as well, but is only on your local system.

MRC connects to multiple Mystic (and a few other BBS packages) as well.
