• PoP 2008...

From Shurato@21:2/148 to All on Sun Dec 1 17:57:00 2024
I keep hearing how easy this game is, so I bought it for a second time. At least this time it started. The camera is spastic, there is no map and I
have no idea where to go. Not playable for me. Immediately got a refund.
Most games I get at this price I don't even play; if I did steam would be pissed as I'd want a refund from every game I've purchased. I need a
playable easy game without puzzles or difficult controls. Is that too much
to ask? It needs to be linear so I don't get lost. With a good story that I can enjoy. I don't think there is such a thing. I've already bought BGIII twice and had it refunded both times (I never played it and it was too expensive to not play). I bought Skyrim and haven't played that either, but the refund period has passed. Same with Oblivion. Open world games are NOT for me.

    Yes, sorry.

Oh, ok. then I agree PoP 2008 did not resonate with me well as well.

I liked Sands of Time, Warrior Within as well, I think I never completed The Two Thrones. I think I got bored by PoP at that time completely.

Assassin's Creed very quickly revived the sentiment + fresh new direction and open world there was not that bad. Then Assassin moved toward direction that lost my interest completely.

Nothing against open world games if they are designed well, but this is daunt task and many games fail.

With Elder Scrolls.. I like Morrowind very much but it wasn't easy game to complete. They made it more accessible with Oblivion and I finished that game 3-4 times until I considered it's dated already comparing to newer games.

Skyrim was rock solid when it was released... but too big and slow for me to come back to it for a second try. I still have the remastered version somewhere but... no.

I think your best bet is to pick some game which is turn based and board-game like, but less face it, it is not like your requisites are easy to meet.

See, good games that don't require much thinking (ie. puzzles) are reflex and dexterity games, and since you don't want any reflex/dexterity game those are ruled out.

On the other hand, games that don't require fine hand-eye coordination skills usually pose an intellectual challenge because what else could they offer? But you have ruled those out too.

At this point I think the only games left are visual novels and other story-driven games in which the appeal of the game is the plot and everything else is just decoration.

IMO if I were you I would give Battle for Wesnoth a try - it is turn based, so no reflexes, and it is very easy to learn, so not much thinking (at the begining). It is available for free (as it is FOSS software). If that does not work for you then I suggest you try with visual novels and if that does not work either then I suggest you find a non videogame related hobby.

I am trying Destiny Star Girlfriend, which is a visual novel. I'm enjoying that, but I need to watch it some more.

I just want a story I can play through without any difficulty. I want to be able to finish a game. Right now, I can't make it through tutorials or prologues in most games. I'm wasting my money and time. I almost always get
a refund on games I buy, when I can. I've only (so far) played 2 games I liked. Kakkarot and Mech Warriors 5 Mercenaries. I bored 18 hours in, which is a record for me in Kakkarot. I got bored 3 hours in (close to a record)
in MW5M due to the repetition of levels. I have no incentive to buy DLC.
I'm simply looking for a game I can finish without struggling with my
multiple deficiencies as a human being.

    Simply, I don't want a challenge! That's what a game could offer me. I
    can't be the only one.

I've got the perfect game for ya. Legend of Zelda - Echoes of Wisdom for the Nintendo Switch. I just finished it after playing for maybe 3-4 days casually, and it was by far the easiest Zelda game I've ever played. Was fun, but super, super easy. Seems to fit the bill of what you're looking for as well.

Now, you might not have a Switch, and that's okay. Because here's the link from the Internet Archive that has the last released version of Ryujinx Switch emulator:

    https://archive.org/download/ryujinx-1.1.1403-win_x64/

And here's the link to the ROM from my site:

I've been able to play games up until the PS2 generation. Now there's
nothing for me. I just bought an RTX4080 Super and I don't want that
purchase to go to waste. Visual novels don't have the graphics I crave. I have a non video game related hobby; I'm a sysop. I want to enjoy video
games like I used to, but without playing retro games. I have a Trimui Smart Pro for that. It plays up to PSP and I'm enjoying some of those, but I want
to game on a larger screen.

There are tons of game novels that are like choose your own adventure. Everything from actual adventures to adult themed games. One of them has to have a story you like. If you want a little more challenge than choosing the story line then check out Satisfactory you can choose the level of difficulty by disabling thing you don't like. For instance don't want to fight put the animals on passive. Don't want to hunt down the hard drives you can turn on all the advances in the MAM. You can even choose to have the game precompleted so it's just a sand box. The last one I don't recommend as it is fun building and upgrading the factory.

If none of these peak your interest tell me more about the games that do. I will look through my massive game library and make better recommendations.

Well, most games are designed to be challenging because people plays them for the challenge.

There are non-challenge games which are aimed at people who does not want to play a winnable game, but just to sit down and relax. Think of stuff like SIMS, or farm simulators.

Yeah, I want to play a game that has a beginning and end, not a sandbox just
to relax. I don't want a challenge, I want a story. With my various disabilities, I can't handle a challenging game.

It's just the two files named "firmware.18.0.0.zip" and "keys_18.0.0.zip". And here's the instructions to install them. Takes two seconds:

    https://github.com/GreemDev/Ryujinx/wiki/Ryujinx-Setup-&-Configuration-Gui
    itial-setup---placement-of-prodkeys

Just follow those two steps and you're good. Right after it says how
    to
    install games as well.

    Here ya go.

I was going to copy and paste the second link, but it's missing some... I'm getting the files.

Couldn't get Ryujinx to work. Complains about prod.keys, it's
    in the
system directory under Ryujinx as I've read to put it. I have
    no bio
either, and haven't found any to download. Thanks but no
    thanks, I n
something that isn't going to stress me out.

Crap, forgot about that. It's actually super easy to get working. I'm pretty sure I have the latest keys and firmware.

I do. Here's where the keys and firmware are:

Nevermind, used google-fu to find the correct link. I'm up and running!
It's starting to get late though, so I'll look at it more tomorrow.

Thanks much! I'm up and running with very little difficulty now! It looks fun. I little kiddy for my tastes, but that's what I have to deal with with
my requirements for a low difficuly game. I just wish I could stretch my CPU and GPUs legs!

No problem. There are a couple other Switch games you might be interested in that fit the bill for what you're looking for on my files site.

Ni No Kuni - Wrath of the White Witch:
Super fun, the story is amazing. Produced by Studio Ghibli (Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, My Friend Totoro, etc) and released by Bandai.

    Pikmin 4:
Not very story driven, but if you like collecting things with a bit of a story behind it, this is your game.

Can't get it to work with my controller :(. Nevermind. I always have some sort of problem no matter what I try. I went into settings and selected the microsoft controller, but the buttons don't do anything on the first screen.
It seems like gaming for me is out of reach. My attitude doesn't help of course, but I expect things to work, which I don't think is unreasonable.

Playing the Zelda game you suggested finally. I had an unwanted houseguest
who had paired a controller I don't use. I unpaired that and now my controller is functional. This is a bit fun but I'm having problems with the first level boss. I'm trying to shoot him from a distance and blocking his fireballs, but when he gets too close he kicks my butt! I really don't want
to have to strategize... I'm not playing to have to think, I'm just wanting
to have some fun getting through a story. There is only normal and hard
mode; no easy mode :(. Even this is too hard for me. My reflexes are extremely poor and my tremors make me accidentally push or miss buttons I'm trying to press. I really need a game with a true easy mode so I can enjoy
the story. Thanks much for the suggestion, though.
