• Mobile gaming @ Diablo Immortal?

From paulie420@21:2/150 to All on Wed Jun 19 13:51:23 2024
I am freaking amazed at where mobile gaming is in 2024; I've been on an iPhone 12 Pro for a few years... and I hadn't even checked out the state of mobile gaming on THAT platform. Then, I went out and switched to Android, grabbing a Samsung Galaxy s24+ device - so I thought I'd try some gaming...

Installed Diablo Immortal, Genshin Impact and a few others - but let's focus on Diablo here as it's a title I think a lot of our community is familiar with. W0W; I'm impressed... it is immersive, has wonderful controls and even the ability to use XBox/PS5 controllers if you don't like the touch controls...

This is leaps and bounds from the Diablo I remember in my BBS days. Anyone else play these titles??? Any other 'must have' games?

If you haven't pressed your mobile device lately, NOW is the time... this is freaking awesome!!!

What are you playing, and what should I download??? What device(s), what title(s)?

I haven't done much mobile gaming, but it's interesting to see what's out there. I've always enjoyed gaming, but for a mobile device, I'd be concerned with running down the battery quickly, especially if it's my phone.

These mobile devices are so high-end... I got the Samsung Galaxy s24+ - similar to the iPhone 15 Pro... if you have one of these devices, and HAVEN'T checked out the high-end gaming, or other, software - its something you need to p0ke around and look at.

Even if yer on hardware a couple YEARS behind ... it is impressive.

I am one of those people who consider mobile devices work tools only. If you use them for entertainment they suck your time up without providing much in return.

I like having one or two arcadey games in my mobiles in order to get extremely short burts. Say you are in a waiting room with absolutely nothing to do... a game of Vector Pinball to kill 10 minutes is quite effective at saving you from boredoom without making you a slave of your smartphone.

Understood - with Diablo, I'm trying to play through... but they try to 'gameify' it so much that its not like the Diablo's we remember.

Its good - but I'm still trying to just play the content and not the mobile gamification stuffs.

Fun, but work figuring out whats the GAME and whats the SELL.

Put a few dozen hours into Diablo 4 and really liked it but eventually got bored as it was just too easy so might pick up Eternal and see how it is. How do you like it compared to Diablo 4? How does those free 2 play monetization aspects change it from the stand alone Pay to Play PC game?

So I'm NOT a gamer and haven't played anything since the first 2 Diablo's, so I can't give a direct comparison - but it feels ALMOST console quality. There are different game 'parts', like you can download a new section of the game and continue new missions/quests and whatnot - it feels pretty vast.

My biggest gripe is that it does feel a little 'pay to play' like other mobile games - I don't do that, but I know if I paid $20 I would advance a lot quicker.... stupid.

Its pretty awesome - albeit still a mobile game... we're ALMOST there IMO.
