I bought Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 when it came out, and I enjoy playing it every so often. It has great visuals, and it's very detailed. They're releasing a major update, 2024, on November 19th. I'm looking forward to it.

The new MSFS 2024, I wouldn't call it an "update", it's more like a new title, succesor to the 2020 version.
It's looking absolutely astonishing, in every video review is popping up on youtube everywhere, and I would say you need a pretty beefy machine to run it decently.
I have the 2020 version and play it in VR, but have my oldie comp scratching the walls to make it go...

I suppose that's true, as they're giving it a new title (with '2024').

That's true.. When I built my current PC in 2019, I wasn't building it specifically for MSFS 2020, but it was enough to run it (Intel i9-9900K, 32GB RAM, and a Nvidia RTX 2070 Super GPU). In 2022 I replaced the GPU with a Nvidia RTX 3080 TI, which significantly improved the frame rate. It was playable with the 2070, but I felt like the video was somewhat jerky, especially in detailed areas.

I have the 2020 version and play it in VR

I tried that a few years ago when I bought a Quest VR headset. I thought it was pretty cool, but I eventually decided to sell the headset. Now that I have a better video card though, I might buy another and try it again.

You should defnitively go for it. With the HW you have, you'll do great, and enjoy the experience very very much.
A few updates ago in MSFS 2020, VR performance got a huge boost, which gave old hw-runners like myself (GTX 970... just imagine...), an incredible improvement in performance. You'll do great with your GFX card, and sitting for 15 to 20 minutes in a Cessna 172 going trhough all the checks and turning it on and carrying it to the runway tip.. and then announce take off and throttle on and after some 20 minutes of sitting inside the plane in VR, then throttling on and taking off, you'll be THRILLED!!
You have to give it a try again.

    Malvinas.
PS: I could point out a couple of "landmarks" in my country for you to check out... :D

That's good to hear. Maybe I'll plan on buying a VR headset again.
