It would be cool to meet up. Seattle is a bit of a drive from where I am, so I'll have to see how things work out. I don't really like beer much, but I'd bring some for you if you want. :)

I understand, though living in Texas, a couple of hours to get somewhere is like a trip to the store :) I'll probably be good for beer, I am sure I'll be sampling some of Seattle's finest...if they have any :)

I recommend the Alaskan Amber, and stay away from Olympia.

It would be at least a 3 hour drive for me, and that's assuming good traffic (it's almost always worse than the estimates).

Survived? I probably wouldn't mind living in the Seattle area. But I've heard the traffic can be worse than where I'm living now.

The traffic in/around the downtown area is horrible. I left there
almost exactly 20 years ago, and it was bad even then. Most of my time
there was not in Seattle "proper", it was across the Puget Sound in
Kitsap county. That area was quite nice for the most part, especially
if you're into outdoor stuff like biking, fishing, hiking. Not sure I
could live there any more with the way the politics there has gone over
the cliff. The downtown area now looks like a war zone, with tents,
homeless, drug addicts laying all around. Needles and human waste all
over the ground. It has to be seen to be believed. I mostly enjoyed my
time there, but would never go back now.

Speaking of Australian bands, have you heard of one called 1927? I
came across them a few weeks back, 80's or 90's band, found a track

no,. but no-one is as good as midnight oil <snicker>

1927 only lasted a few albums if I recall right... ISH, don't remember what else.

Midnight Oil was good right up until Red Sails in the Sunset, ok as far as
Blue Sky Mining and then became rubbish. Wedding Cake Island! :P

Yup, that was popular in the 80's. I think it was their only big one too

Compulsory Hero and You'll never know, are the only other two I can recall.. had to hunt for a list to look over though...

I live near Portland Oregon, and there has been a similar increasing homeless population there over the last 10-15 years or so too. It's sad, and I hope something is done to help.

You should try the Nigel's Song of the Day group on
Facebook. I've got everything from the 1920's to well,
mostly late 90's some 2000's+ stuff, but as we've already
established, most music after the 80's was pretty shite.

I remember your annoucement of tunes at FB. I will try again,
but the FB approach to check out shared material doesn't work
for me. There is simply something about the whole FB interface
that bothers me - and it could largely be because it wastes a
lot of my precious mobile data serving the ads that I would
    never engage in.

Spotify and its shared playlist system is much more focused on
the topic and there are no ads.

That's one reason I don't collect vinyl albums..
There is also the fact that LPs cost an arm and a leg. New albums can go for $30 without shipping. You can get the digital version for a third of the

By digital do you mean CD? Or a downloadable version?

It's a bummer that some of that stuff is so expensive. It seems blu-ray movies are getting similar - I've seen new 4K releases of movies coming out that are around $28 or more. I like having my own copy of movies I like, but sometimes I'm not sure I want to spend that amount of money for one movie.

yea... and like over here when the pokies came around even though technically gambling is illegal outside of the seminole tribe lands (the people who own the hard rock casinos etc), i know someone that runs a small place out in the middle of nowhere and it's amazing how many people come in with a couple hundred bucks... win 800 and then go home broke.
